HPV has long been known to cause cervical cancer and now studies suggest it also plays a role in more than 20% of oral cancer cases. And what's more concerning is, few people even know they have HPV.
*A higher risk for oral cancer is present if you are a tobacco user of any age, or if you are over the age of 40, even if you are not a tobacco user.
*The highest risk for oral cancer is present if you have a personal history of oral cancer, or any other type of cancer, and even if you have a family history of cancer.
*If you are over the age of 40, and a tobacco user, you are in the highest risk group.
